Community Impact

Inland Empire United Way aims to positively impact the lives of children and families in need by addressing short-term basic needs and investing in the futures of at-risk children and their families with a strong emphasis on community partnerships and the mobilization of volunteers. Our work is focused in the areas of EDUCATION, FINANCIAL STABILITY and HEALTH. Together, IEUW and its Community Impact Partners provide programs that accomplish the following outcomes:

EDUCATION
Low-income children are doing better in school.

FINANCIAL STABILITY
Low-income families are more self-sufficient.
Low-income youth are better prepared for future self-sufficiency.

HEALTH
Low-income children are healthier.

Programs operated directly by Inland Empire United Way include:

Kids Pack
Weekend backpacks of nutritious food for homeless and very low-income school children

School Tools
Free school supplies for low-income students and classrooms

Mentor Connection
Empowering volunteers to invest in the lives and futures of at-risk youth

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
Tax clinics staffed by trained college-student volunteers that assist income qualified individuals with basic tax preparation at no charge

Community Voice Mail
Providing low-income families and individuals with access to telephone voicemail service to encourage job attainment and stable housing
