A WE Connect Outreach Event to Connect Real People to Real Resources

Rancho Cucamonga, CA (April 14, 2009)Inland Empire WE Connect is hosting an outreach event to prequalify and connect people to numerous programs and services all through the WEb Connector tool and with the help of volunteers at the Archibald Library in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

From the First Lady of California’s office, Maria Shriver’s WE Connect campaign is a pioneering public/private partnership designed to help California’s working families become more financially secure by connecting them to important programs and resources.

Several of these programs, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), are available and accessible to working families but many are not taking full advantage of them. This leaves over a billion dollars on the table each year that could have been used by working families right here in California.

This statewide effort will connect families with the information and tools they need to take full advantage of these valuable resources, empowering them to live their dreams.

Kristen Bennett, Inland Empire WE Connect VISTA says, “Our hope is that people will be able to utilize the programs involved with WE Connect, which will allow them to save money and find ways to pursue their dreams. Here in the Inland Empire, I am trying to bring WE Connect and its valuable resources to our community by partnering with libraries, schools, churches, and organizations.”

On Saturday at the Archibald Library, WEb Connector will be available to help working families determine exactly which programs they may be eligible for and how to apply and all with the click of a mouse. The WEb Connector tool is free, live, and accessible from any computer with internet.

Bennett explains, “More and more, people are depending on the public libraries for information and for their personal internet access. This makes libraries a great location for people to visit and browse WEconnect.net. The WE Connect Community Outreach Event at the Archibald Library will give people the opportunity to receive assistance with the WEb Connector and to learn about resources they may qualify for.”
