Project
Homeless Connect
POMONA,
CA (December 8,
2008) –
Once again, Inland Empire United Way (IEUW)
successfully participated in Project Homeless
Connect in Pomona, CA.
This annual event connects homeless
individuals and families to key services, such as free
health exams, flu shots, haircuts, showers, but most
importantly, it connects them to a variety of social
service organizations in the community.
This year, Inland Empire United Way
donated 300 rolling suitcases, duffle bags, and
lunch boxes to all attending homeless participants. IEUW
also donated cases of shampoo & conditioner as well as
toilet paper to the Pomona Winter Shelter, which opened
its doors on Friday, December 5, 2009.
Each participant received an
individual rolling duffle or suitcase for their personal
use, which provides a durable and functional means to
store personal belongings while in the current state of
instability and transition.
Not only did individuals benefit
from the donation of nearly $8,500 of supplies, but approximately 12 social service
organizations also received luggage sets and lunch boxes
to distribute to their homeless clients.
