BACKGROUND: Nearly 35,000 calls have been received by
2-1-1 San Bernardino County since the launch in September 2006.
The 2-1-1 database currently holds 633 agencies, 1,566 programs,
and it is being added to each day. 2-1-1 is a toll-free phone
number that provides information and referrals for community
services to callers from anywhere in San Bernardino County.
Services are available by simply dialing 2-1-1 or (888)
435-7565. It is free and confidential, and a live, bilingual
call specialist assists callers 24 hours a day. The County of
San Bernardino and First 5 San Bernardino have joined in
providing funding for 2-1-1 San Bernardino County.
Across the U.S., 2-1-1 has been implemented in 32 states in 169
centers. 2-1-1 offers information and referrals for
non-emergency help, and also improves public safety, acting as a
hub for information and volunteerism during crisis or disaster.
2-1-1 San Bernardino County is an initiative licensed to and
provided by Inland Empire United Way (IEUW). IEUW helps
disadvantaged kids succeed in school, provides easy access to
health and social services, develops volunteer opportunities to
create positive change, and strengthens financial stability
