Nonprofit Survey results bring attention to the sector’s needs

San Bernardino County and the Pomona Valley, CA (February 26, 2008) – A recent survey of Inland Empire nonprofit agencies reveals some interesting results about the assets and needs of the nonprofit sector. The results of the survey will be especially useful to guide strategic planning efforts and to leverage funding for the nonprofit sector within this region.

Key Findings:

  • 75% of agency executives indicated that they place "a lot" of value on collaboration.
  • More than 1/3 of the executives indicated that there is no opportunity for advancement for young professionals within their organization.
  • 74% of agency executives reported that their organization relies heavily on government funding.
  • The top three issues affecting local nonprofits are Increased Operating Costs, Fundraising Effectiveness and Increased Need for Agency Services.
  • Most executives indicated their agency needs a service to help recruit board members.

“It's important for all of us to keep in touch with the needs in our communities, especially which needs are not being met,” said CEO Chris Briggs, Desert Communities United Way.
