CHA to host a Kids Craft Fair at local Boys & Girls Club
FONTANA, CA (January 11, 2010) – On Thursday, January 21, 2010, the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) will host a Kids Craft Fair at the Boys & Girls Club of Fontana Clubhouse located at 7723 Almeria Avenue in Fontana, California from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Terri O, home arts expert, TV host, and celebrity crafter will be on hand to emcee the event.
As part of its commitment to the Kids In Need Foundation, CHA pledged to host a Kids Craft Fair for approximately 200 children at the local Boys & Girls Club of Fontana. With supplies donated by generous CHA members, the children at the Boys & Girls Club will be able to create four different craft projects. Local dignitaries and community leaders will also be in attendance. This free craft event is not open to the public.
The School Tools program of Inland Empire United Way’s Education and Health Initiative provides free school supplies to local teachers and students in need, and is a proud affiliate of the Kids In Need Foundation’s national network of teacher resource centers.
“We are so grateful for our ongoing partnership with CHA and the Kids In Need Foundation, and for the opportunity to bring this exciting event to our community’s children,” said Lorraine Ousley, Director of Inland Empire United Way’s Education and Health Initiative, KidSmart. “We also appreciate our local partners, such as the Boys & Girls Club, Auto Club Speedway, Target Distribution Center, and the City of Fontana for helping to make this event a success.”
CHA will also host fundraising events after the Kids Craft Fair, and proceeds and product donations will benefit programs like School Tools that support teachers in under-funded and economically disadvantaged schools.
“When a child has even the most basic school supplies, it has been proven that attendance and grades increase,” said Dave Smith, executive director of the Kids In Need Foundation. “With this generous donation, thousands of students in need will start the school year feeling confident they have the tools they need to succeed.”
