LIVE UNITED Flash Mob Event

Inland Empire United Way's first flash mob at The Shoppes at Chino Hills

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (November 23, 2009)
—On Sunday, November 22, 2009, Inland Empire United Way held its first LIVE UNITED flash mob event that took place at The Shoppes at Chino Hills Promenade. United Way staff, family, board members, and volunteers gathered to unveil their LIVE UNITED t-shirts, hold up signs to show their impact in the community, and appeared frozen for a few minutes at exactly 1:30 p.m.

The signs included the following messages:

We feed 1,500 homeless & low-income kids each weekend

We distribute $1 million worth of new school supplies to local classrooms each year

Over 3,000 volunteers are ready to serve

90+ agencies in our community need volunteers to help

Volunteers donated over 13,000 hours to our community this year

We connected over 160,000 residents with services and resources

Raised over $3,465,000 for our communities last year

We fund 25 vital programs in our community

"LIVE UNITED flash mobs are used to grab attention and increase awareness of the great impact United Way has in our communities," said Crystal Todd, Interim Executive Director of Inland Empire United Way. "It's a fun way of sharing what we do and engaging others to get involved."

A photo slideshow and video is now available on the Inland Empire United Way website, www.ieuw.org/multimedia.html.
