Inland Empire United Way is developing and implementing a new
program initiative focused on strengthening opportunities in the
community which lead to greater financial stability for
low-income families and individuals.
Program goals will be accomplished through a number of
methodologies, including volunteer recruitment and training,
internships, program grant funding, partnership and
collaboration, advocacy and public policy influence.
Elements of the initiative will include: community outreach
and program development in the areas of income supplements and
work supports; job readiness activities; workforce development
for homeless teens and foster teens.
Program Elements
- Income Supplements such as EITC Outreach/VITA Provision,
Food Stamp Outreach, School Nutrition Program Outreach,
Congregate & Home-Delivered Meals Provision, Housing
Assistance, Eviction Prevention (mortgage/rent assistance
provision, Transitional Sheltering Provision, Health Insurance
Outreach, Household Assistance-Seniors Provision, Legal Aid
Provision
- Work Supports such as Child Care Assistance,
Transportation Assistance
- Job Readiness such as Workplace “soft skills”, Student
Internships, College/University Service Learning, Literacy
Skills, Numeracy Skills, Computer Skills, Teens in Foster
Placement, Homeless Teens
- Workforce Development (Specific Target Populations) such
as Programs for Teens in Foster Placement, Homeless Teens
- Financially-Fit Students (Financial Literacy) such as
Classroom Grant Program
